We love our house, built around 1920, with two floors and a finished basement, white walls and hardwood floors. Our large wooden deck is overlooking the small village and the sea, the Danish coastline included. There's a nature reserve with a private castle (Kulla Gunnarstorp) across the street and numerous golf courses in the area.
Our house has three bedrooms upstairs - the master bedroom included - and a finished basement with one separate bedroom and a tv-room with a single bed and a sofa bed. Our small office has a single bed. All floors have a sea view. We have two TV-rooms (one upstairs and one in the basement), a dining room and a living room that opens to the deck. We have plenty of books, many in English. Our garden is large and secluded.
Our small village, Hittarp, has about 900 recidents and a small beach. Hittarp is located 5 kilometers north of Helsingborg, a seaside town of 250.000. There's a bus stop on our street and a bus to Helsingborg every 30 minutes. From Helsingborg it's a 1 h 15 min train ride to central Copenhagen and a 45 minute ride to Malmö. A ferry will take you to the quaint little Danish town Helsingör in 15 minutes. The city of Helsingborg has plenty of outside restaurants and cafés, a marina and a popular white sand beach.
There are plenty of things to do in the area. Visit Kullaberg nature reserve, visit Sofiero Castle and gardens (a 5 minute drive from our house), take the ferry to the island Ven and rent bicycles to go around the island, visit the cool Hoganas Saluhall (market hall, interior shop, restaurant and café), drive to Viken (old fishing village with cute houses along narrow streets, a white church and a marina where you can have lunch). Visit the small summer villages along the coast north of Hittarp. Spend a day in Louisiana Museum of Modern Art in Denmark (buy a combined ferry-train-entrance ticket in Helsingborg). Visit the picturesque small town of Ystad and/or spend a day on the white sand of Falsterbo beach.
We're a family of five. Thomas is an accountant and Ann-Marie is an IT project manager and our three kids are grown and away on their own adventures. We have a very friendly cat and a fish tank needing minimum care.
We've exchanged our home twice before and right now we're looking to swap primarily to the French riviera or the New York city area. But we're open to all offers! Preferably a place near a beach or with a pool. One of our cars can be included in the exchange.
