Acerca de nuestra casa

Our house is a beautifully designed three bedroom home on Cape Town's exciting and beautiful Atlantic Seaboard. Situated in sought-after Greenpoint, it is a short stroll to pavement cafe's, a gym, the beachfront, shops and minutes from the V&A Waterfront Centre - either by bus, on foot (about a 20 min walk then) or by car. You can have the use of a Nissan Micra. The house itself is a charming victorian cottage with sunny outlook and cool wooden floors and high ceilings. It has a secluded shady provencal-type courtyard for dinners in the evening (also features a private outdoor shower) a separate dining room for entertaining and a barbecue on the front balcony which gets sun and shade in just the right proportions. The house sleeps 4 comfortably - 2 on a double in the main bedroom, 2 on a double in the spare room. There is also a sofa bed in the study / 3rd bedroom for unexpected extra guests! The main bedroom is a loft in the roof with great views and an integrated bath room with luxurious fittings. There is another full bathroom downstairs - both feature bath and separate showers. The house is completely secured and very safe.

OUr neighbourhood is one of the nicest and most-sought after in Cape Town - it is on what's called the Atlantic Seaboard and has old houses and character-filled streets - and of course, it's so close to the sea. We often walk to what we call in Cape Town the Sea Point promenade (about 10 - 15 min walk from the house) - but on hot days it might be better to drive - and walk along the sea front. There are lots of little beaches to lie on, and the sand is white and gorgeous. Alternatively you can drive for just 5 min to famous beaches like Clifton 4th, Camps Bay. Greenpoint offers great pavement cafes, bars and restaurants (Thai, Sushi, Seafood, Steak, Italian) a few minutes down the road (walking again), delis (Giovanni's - we practically live there) and grocery stores too. There's also a great market on a Sunday selling everything African for you to buy gifts to take home. Conversely the neighbourhood is small and quiet, as we're a few roads up from the bustle, so you won't be disturbed in the evenings. (In fact, Greenpoint is such a great suburb it's been chosen as the venue for our new 2010 stadium!)

My husband and I have lived here for a couple of years - we both work in advertising, myself on the creative side, while he is on client service side. We are in our early thirties (if you average us out) and like what most people in their thirties do - entertaining, going out, going to the beach in summer, movies (V&A Waterfront down the road has an 8-screen cinema) shopping, and hanging out with our friends. We don't smoke, so no worried there. I have been known to have the odd glass of wine, but my husband, James doesn't drink at all. We're pretty straight for advertising people - although we like to say we had a wild youth! We would possibly be joined by a friend currently resident in the UK, she's single, in marketing and works for a large financial services firm, and she likes to join us for Christmas - her name is Cathy, I'm Kathryn and my husband is James.
