“For my wife and I , Slovenia is one of the worlds best kept secrets and we hope it retains it\'s natural beauty and European charm forever. The country\'s relative small geographic area makes for ease of travel from one region to another and provides so many scenic wonders, historic buildings and places of interest without the need to travel great distances. Our host family, Tone and wife Janja, own the vineyard, winery and apartment where we spent a fantastic three weeks. Their Son Marko, with whom I negotiated the exchange his wife Spela and two children live a short distance from Ljubljana the capital of Slovenia and only a one hour drive from the vineyard. The self contained apartment above the winery has every facility required for a comfortable stay and we never failed to be captured by the view across the vineyard towards the town of Krsko a short drive in the valley below. Krsko itself has an abundance of food shops, convenience stores and did I mention the delightful food and wines ? The country\'s close proximity to several other countries eg. Italy, Austria, Croatia, Hungary etc. makes it an ideal base from which to explore even more of Europe BUT Slovenia itself should not be overlooked as there is so much to see, so much to appreciate and the people are extremely welcoming. The hospitality and kindness shown by Tone, Marko and the family was unforgettable and the memories contributed to by this remarkable family will live on within our hearts for many years.
