Acerca de nuestra casa

Designed together with an architect - directly inspired by our former home - a loft located down town Oslo. This loft had a lot of overlight windows and spacious rooms and good view over the roofs of Oslo. We wanted to take with us elements from this atmosphere to our "new" house . Therefore the ceilings are like in a loft with many overlight windows. The most spectacular of these , a 12 sq. m. overlight is located in the living room . The main living room also has a glass fasade, and this makes the room very special. The reason for this extended use of glass in the fasade, is of course the magnificent view towards Oslo .

The fact that we litterally have built the house ourselves, is reflected by carefully executed details throughout the whole building.

Located in a big garden the view is excellent towards the city.
From the balcony outside the main sleeping room or from the large sofa in the livingroom, you can monitor the ships come and go to and from the harbour of Oslo. You can also enjoy the sight of sailing and boating life.
On warm summer days there is a lot of sailing in these waters .
You also have direct view to the national ski-jump arena in Oslo, called Holmenkollen. With binoculars you can examine the different parts of Oslo from one of the sofas in the livingroom.
Among the things you can see is the clock of the Town Hall - Oslo Rådhus - this building lies next to the Nobel Peace Center in Oslo. Other things visible from the sofa is of course the new Oslo skyline called "The Barcode", which is now growing around the new Oslo Operahouse.. The Operahouse itself is hidden from where you sit in the sofa. It's located behind a small island in the harbour called Hovedøya (Main island).
This island is now a popular recreation area and it also have some ruins left from the ancient monestary which was located here. The other small islands in the Oslo harbour is now mainly used for recreation and bathing life during summer time .
From the sofa you can even spot the Royal Castle if you are familiar with the town .
Staying in our home you will ,of course, explore Oslo for real. You simply do as most people living in the neigbourhood working in Oslo do, you jump on the bus.( The bus stop is 500 m away from the house). The bus takes you directly to the ferryboat, and on a sunny day you can enjoy the short boattrip before you enter down town Oslo in front of the Town Hall.
You are now in the senter of Oslo with a lot of shopping and restaurant possibilities right on the harbour. The new part of the town is located in the part of town where there was shipping industry earlier. You can explore the inner city by foot or jump on a tram 30 meters from the ferry. The subway or train station is some blocks away ( 7- 8 minutes walk )
When you are tired of exploring the the city life, just take the boat back and the busses will be there waiting for you to take you to our home, or anywhere else on the peninsula Nesodden.

In summertime most people living in Nesodden love to jump on the boat to get back to relaxed life just a short boatride from the city.
