Acerca de nuestra casa

We live in a comfortable modern house which is built in local stone in a traditional style. We live on the rim of a valley so the views are exceptional and sometimes you can even see Sicily from one of the bedrooms. Our children have flown the nest and so we are making the most of our time by travelling although it is possible that we will remain in part of the house. Access to the house is shared if we are in residence.

There are 2 double bedrooms with queen sized beds and en-suite bathrooms with showers. One bedroom is large enough to sleep 2 children on camp beds or blow up matresses. We also have a travel cot for smaller children and it would be possible to fit this into the other bedroom if required.

Both bedrooms have balconies. The larger room is on the first floor at the front of the house and has a small Romeo and Juliette balcony, whereas the 2nd floor bedroom has a private terrace with views over the valley.

There is a kitchenette/laundry on the 2nd floor with fridge, microwave, hob and kettle for cooking. If the weather is bad, a table can be set up on the top floor but is only suitable for 2 to eat together (perhaps 3 children). The table can normally be set up on the private top terrace where there are benches to eat and an umbrella for shade.

Where is it?

Our house is situated in a residential area on the outskits of the village of Xaghra, with a good bus services within 50 meters from the house to Marsalforn, Ramla bay and Mgarr. The surrounding area is mainly farming land and plenty of places to go walking and enjoying the wonderful views around Gozo. Within a 10 minutes walk you have a local supermarket which is open 7 days a week.

Restaurantes llenos de vida
Alantil-Joplin is with a 5 minute walk of the house and serves a range of foods including vegetarian. Our favourite upmarket restaurants on the island are Tmun and Brookies but it is hard to get a bad meal on the island.
Bares fantásticos
Royal Lady in Mgarr or there is a good mix of pubs, music bars and cocktail bars in Marsalforn
Cafetería hogareña
There are so many but we really like the cafes in St Georges Square in Victoria or in winter we go to Pebbles in Marsalforn and watch the waves
Terapia de compras
The Craft Village is great for filigree silver, lace, glass, leather and pottery. Otherwise there are several small shopping malls in Victoria
Un toque de cultura
Ggantija Temples in Xaghra is a UNESCO world heritage site, there is also a windmill and other museums. The old Citadel built in the mid 18th Century was maintained by the Knights of St John. There are lots of art galleries around the island and there are artistic courses available.
Paseos por el parque
Only one real park in Victoria but who needs it when you have the countryside and seascape here which is hard to beat
Un poquito de ejercicio
Lots of marked walking trails - a few are relatively flat but most involve hills. The diving around the island is fantastic. Horse riding, segways tours, swimming and boating are all available
Un viajecito de un día
Malta is a must. Valletta is worth a day particularly the Co-Cathedral which is amazing. There is a Rabat in Malta as well with catacombes.
