Zell is one of the key towns on the Mosel and lies midway between Trier and Koblenz.
The name is an adaption of 'cellar' and it is very much a wine-making town and vibrant for the visitor.
Our house is a 2 minute walk to the pedestrian precinct with its many wine cellars, cafes, restaurants, delis, bakeries and other shops.
Walks are numerous, along the river, around the town and nearby villages, through vineyards and forests.
Our house is on the Mosel Bikepath and bikes can be hired in town.
Canoes can be hired and ferries operate up and down the Mosel River.
Buses criss cross the region and connect the town frequently with nearby Bullay rail station.
Rail runs to either Koblenz or Trier, and then to other points.
