Acerca de nuestra casa

The town of Niagara-on-the-Lake attracts over 3 million visitors annually and is a major Canadian destination for visitors.
Just 90 minutes’ drive from Toronto, and 15 minutes from Niagara Falls, this well-preserved 19th-century village, with its charming inns, upscale restaurants and elegant architecture, is the heart of Ontario’s wine region. Home to the famed Shaw (theater) Festival, Niagara-on-the-Lake provides a great base for daytrips to Niagara Falls. Drive or bike through the area, visiting wineries and Fort George National Historic Site. Ride along the Niagara escarpment on horseback or book a whitewater adventure at the nearby Niagara Falls.
The town is home to the Shaw Festival, running from April to November. The festival operates three theatres in the centre of town: the Festival, Royal George, and Court House theatres, and features a repertory acting company, scenic staff, and collection of resident and guest directors considered some of the best in the English-speaking world.
The surrounding region enjoys a comparatively mild climate thanks to the adjoining lakes, so mild that apricots, peaches, sweet cherries and nectarines grow in abundance. NOTL has also grown into a major viticultural region. Visitors flock to dozens of nearby wineries, including those making the world's largest volumes of ice wine. The town is also known for its gardens, art galleries, antique shops, and golf courses.

Our Home
The house sits on 1.3 acres of land, mostly orchard with a small fruit barn, and a stream at the back of the property, about 200 yards from Lake Ontario. Approximately 2700 square feet on two floors, the house was built in 1929 and retains the original hardwood floors and extensive woodwork. For example, leaded glass doors on built-in drawers in both the lounge and formal dining room, and 10-foot ceilings. There is a working gas fireplace in the lounge, a new kitchen, four bedrooms, (the master a luxurious 700 sq.ft. with ensuite whirlpool), three bathrooms, a sunroom and den. Hi-speed internet and satellite TV are in place, as well as garden and lawn care services. A car is available if needed.
It retains the craftsmenship of its age, has been modernized and preserved, is family-ready, but also very spacious and comfortable for a couple like us.
