About Our City :)
La Paz was declared one of the new 7 wonder cities, by the New7Wonders Foundation
highest capital in the world , with 3,625 meters above sea level , is home to an ethnically and culturally diverse population, Whith a rich ancestral culture where the urban life mixes with traditions of the Andes and it`s people, some may say it has preserved a more healthy life style thanks to the low rate of international companies presence that are common in other cities. La Paz encloses the main institutions of the Plurinational State, where the political power resides, a growing city with more of a million habitants.
In a Normal day by the city you could enjoy many traditional dishes, for breakfast you may enjoy a "salteña" a type of emapanada or "Quinoa "a Quinoa grain based hot drink or maybe an "Api" a corn based hot drink.
Then maybe visit "Mercado de las Brujas" where you will see many traditional articles for the andes spiritual rituals. Or take a sifghtseeing bus to apreciate the many different zones of the city, for lunch perhaps a "silpancho" type of beaf with rice, or "Pique Macho" meat, with sasausage and vegetables, or "Pesque de Quinoa" Quinoa with rural cheese.
By night you could enjoy an "Anticucho" a kind of BBQ using cow`s heart meat, with potatos an peanut sauce, after visiting a cultural event downtown at one of the lots of museum like Tiawanaku`s Museum.
If you are intrested on going for a short trip you have many options inside La Paz Department:
You can visit Coroico going cycling through the "death road" if you are feeling extreme, or just by the asphalted road in a safe way in 3 hours or so by bus, Coroico is on very different natural enviorment, much more humid and warmer.
Other option could be Visiting the Titicaca lake, the highest navigable lake in the world, where you will get to know more of the Inca`s culture and legacy, maybe go to some of the Islands and spend the night in a beutiful hotel, or visit Tiahuanaco on your way to the lake, wich is an ancestral archaeological ruin, where can find a temple and a meseum. It takes around 3 hours to get to the lake and an hour and a half to get to Tiahuanaco
