My home is new and made to my specifications. I say this because I am the architect (no not qualified at all but knew I could work with my local builder to get what I had envisaged).
On the first floor I have what I call the 'bedroom suite' with its own bathroom and sitting area along with an alcove which houses a trundle bed. The main bed is queen size. This area is totally self-contained if needs be.
On the second floor (where I live, really)there are two full bedrooms with en suite bathrooms. The third bedroom which I use as my study has a sofa bed and is adjacent to the half-bathroom (cloak-room). This bedroom is an open room - no doors. The 'Ms' Bedroom is, like the others, bright and airy and has a very comfortable ensuite bathroom.
On this floor, there is a spacious and well-equipped kitchen, a dining area and a lovely sitting area (all open plan and light and airy).
The front door opens onto a lovely large verandah which looks out onto the Caribbean Sea and our lovely cayes in the distance. The back door from the kitchen leads onto a smaller but sweet 'breakfast'/everything verandah. At the back, I overlook Joe Taylor Creek and the most beautiful and pristine mangrove forest for miles around (one I am raising funds to protect). A magical place at sunset!!
The TV/DVD etc are on the top floor - keeps those sounds isolated as I proved when my grandsons were here at Christmas (when we first moved in).
The grounds are not yet properly completed
I am a semi-retired former senior Belize Government Officer. I hold a Ministerial Chair (The National Council on Ageing) and am a Board member of a local but well-considered environmental NGO (www.tidebelize.org)
I now work as a private Consultant and Facilitator for national workshops, seminars and conferences.
My initial background is as an Applied Linguist and in Education and Development.PLEASE NOTE: I AM INTERESTED IN NON-SIMULTANEOUS EXCHANGES ALSO!!
I love the opera and travel to Houston Texas at least twice per year to performances. I also travel to the UK at least twice per year.
I am an avid Non-smoker and do not want smokers in my home.
I am very 'jealous' about my home and would wish that if I were to exchange, that the privacy of my home be respected and that my home and possessions be treated with respect as I will treat the home I get as an exchange.
A quiet strip along the sea - overlooking the bay of Honduras. Traffic sounds but not intrusive and some music from the bar north of the house. Immediate neighbours on the north are Americans and very much keep themselves to themselves.
Punta Gorda is a safe town and its people are quite friendly and helpful.
One can travel out of the district by air or road and these services are very reliable.
The Toledo District is the home to 3 main Ethnic groups so there is rich diversity here. Belize itself is an endearing country which offers everything from sea to mountains and from diving to interesting learning opportunites as one delves into the rich history and geography of the area.
