“We had a wonderful time in David and Verena’s home in Vienna. The house is set in a beautiful residential area. It is very spacious and has great views from the living spaces and bedrooms up and down the valley. Their area has a lot to offer, from great walks (just outside the house) with views all over Vienna and great ‘heurigers’ to choose from to sit outside and enjoy the surroundings. This makes a stay at their home not only a city trip to Vienna but also a true holiday destination. Their house is very clean, well kept and organized. Everything we needed for our young children they provided to make our stay as comfortable as can be. We actually had a chance to meet at the airport, which was very nice. To visit the center of Vienna, public transport is very comfortable. The 43 tram, close to their home, is very efficient, regular and brings you straight into the heart of Vienna in 19 minutes. Also within the center, it is very comfortable to take a tram or metro. We actually bought a week pass in our stay. We found our home in Amsterdam exactly as we left it. We can truly recommend a swap with David and Verena and since we liked it so much, we might even come back in a few years!”

Acerca de nuestra casa
Our home in Vienna is a fascinating mixture of architecture from different periods. The original house - a villa from 1927 - was gutted and totally renovated as well as extended with a modern annex with a wooden facade by award winning architects (A2K). Most visitors to date have been very impressed (please see on-line reviews for their specific comments on the house, location and general experience with us) with the job, which tastefully combines historic character with contemporary urban design.
The house has a total of 3 levels:
Garden level: two bedrooms (both of them now only used as playroom for the children when they want to get away from the parents!!), a bathroom with a shower and loo.
Ground floor: 2 double bedrooms, 1 children’s bedroom with two beds (bunk bed),
1 study / bedroom, bathroom with shower and bathtub, a separate toilet
Upper floor: open plan living room with double height ceilings, kitchen, open fireplace, conservatory and magnificent, very private 30 m2 terrace and second smaller terrace. Sun on the terrace all day but have umbrella during the summer
The house is located in a very quiet, green and safe district. The 43 tram into the city takes 19 minutes (in the morning you wait 2 minutes for the tram, during the day probably 3-5mins) or alternatively the underground 11 minutes to St Stephens the heart of Vienna (bus to the underground runs every 10 minutes and takes 9-11 minutes).
Magnificent routes extending for miles for walking, jogging and biking just 2 minutes away at the end of our road. By the way, a car is not necessary as the public transport is excellent (probably one of the best in the world) overall.
From the very private terrace one has wonderful views to the vineyards and famous “Wienerwald” (massive forest which extends 45km in length and 20-30km in width) as well as to our own beautiful garden (app. 900 m2) with inviting places to sunbathe, relax, eat and lots of space to play for children (we have 2 children so there is a trampoline, children’s swimming pool as well as lots of toys available). There are also pieces of art in the garden.
Number of travellers possible in our home: 4 to MAXIMUM of 5 for your own comfort.
All rooms are very bright and offer nice garden views through big windows. Each room is decorated tastefully with a combination of antiques and new urban design.
In total, the house has approx. 250 m2 of living space plus a 30 m2 roof terrace and a smaller (also very private) terrace on the other side of the house, together with 900 m2 of private landscaped gardens.
SHORT SUMMARY
House, urban with 6 bedrooms (of which only 3 have beds as others are used for home office/kids playroom), sleeps 4-5 very comfortable, 2 bathroom(s), floor area of 250 m2 (ca. 2,700 sq.ft), WCs 2, car optional, children OK, NO smoking, including internet (highspeed), number of travellers: 4 to MAXIMUM of 5 for your comfort

ES: David's reviews
ES: As a host ES: (5)“We had two unforgettable weeks in Vienna. A magnificent city and a luxury villa. The best combination for a successful stay. David and Venera's house is situated in a greeny and quite suburb with easy access to everywhere. BBQ in the garden or diner on the veranda under the stars. A family house build with modern design for a comfortable living. We had a lot of fun like walking in the nearby forest, swimming in the 50 minutes away lake, biking on the riverside of Donau, playing in the Luna park of Pratter, drinking beers in many biergardens and, of course, visiting the center of the Imperial City of Vienna with many cultural interests. We thank you, once more, David and Venera for allowing us to live the luxularety of your house and the greatness of Vienna. Athan, Irina and sons”
“David and Verena’s beautiful house is located in a huge terraced garden in an utterly peaceful street west of the city, overlooking elegant mansions and beyond them, the Vienna woods. The house has the charm of an old house but with a brilliant modern addition full of glass and light, and a huge wooden deck. There is plenty of space and sun and there is every possible comfort. The children have their own large playroom. Vienna is a magnificent city with so much to see and do, but when we felt tired of the city we walked in the nearby woods where there are miles of clearly marked paths and several lovely restaurants. The bus and tram/train services to the city are regular and easy and connect well to the city centre. David is a great communicator and we spoke several times on Skype before the exchange. David answered every query quickly and we had lots of helpful information about the house and the location. The family are delightful, the children well behaved and our place was in perfect order when we returned. This was one of our best exchanges and we would heartily recommend an exchange with this lovely family and their beautiful home. ”
“What a great exchange in David and Verena´s house!! Easy going communication with them at all times. David left us much information about the house as what to do, where to eat in Vienna and around Vienna with some very good recommendations that made us enjoy much of the stay. We have the feeling of having a new friends in Vienna. The house is fantastic, spacious, bright, clean, with real relaxing views, a very good place to live. Our children were very happy with all the great space of the house plenty of toys, playing in the lovely garden and with Bruno the most kindly cat we have ever known. Located in a beautiful residential neighbourhood, from where it reaches the center of Vienna in approximately 20 minutes by tram or metro, but has close a supermarket, restaurants and the traditional Heurigers, as well as beautiful walks beside the house. No detail everything that offers Vienna and Austria, but is so much, history, culture, incredible music culture and amazing nature and always with good alternatives for families with children. As was to be expected we found our house and car in BCN as we had left, summarizing highly recommended family, home, and city to exchange, they always have our doors open.”
“We had a wonderful exchange and an amazing experience this summer. We chose Vienna in Austria and were so lucky to have had such a great home and base. Verena and David's house in a quiet part of Vienna is a perfect location and very comfortable. Their traditional/contemporary house is located on a very quiet street with a great panoramic view to the forest. The beautiful garden offered plenty of sun and shade. The roof terrace in the trees is the most beautiful we ever saw: it has sun early in the morning until late evening. The renovation of the house is really perfect and well designed. Our children of 7 and 11 loved the place and had plenty of toys to play with. As a city Vienna is naturally beautiful and very rich to stroll around with many restaurants, cafes, museums, concerts, history, architecture etc etc. It’s the perfect cultural place to spend holidays. Around Vienna the nature is very beautiful too. We swapped cars which was great for short trips to Schonbrunn, Gumplodskirchen, various vineyards or amazing swimming pools. As a family holiday Vienna offers so many child friendly places, like the Sissi Museum. Verena and David made us feel very welcome and gave us every day lots of information about the area and what trips might be nice to do. It has been easy to communicate with them who have been doing everything to make our stay pleasant. They were also responsible and respectful house sitters and our house was in very good hands with them! In brief, we would strongly recommend this place for anyone who wants to discover this wonderful city and spend time in a beautiful perfect home!”

We are a family of 4:
David, originally from Dublin, Economics graduate from Trinity Dublin, former M&A investment banker now self employed. Loves quality time with the children, reading, jogging and mountain biking.
Verena (PhD in law from University of Vienna and a Harvard postraduate 1998 - 2000), originally Swiss but has lived most of her life in Vienna. Head of Strategic HR Management at major European bank, with love for our children, gardening, books, and architeture. Last but not least our two treasures Carla who is 11, and Vincent who is 8 (both as of August 2018).
We love to spend time as a family at our home, which we have carefully renovated and built over the last years. Now that our children are old enough we are enjoying to travel more again. We like Home Exchange as we really feel that we are living almost like a "local" rather than a tourist and that really has been a great experience for us and the children.
We are very very reliable, well organised, very neat & tidy and will certainly take the UTMOST care of your home (we do expect the same of our guests). We have no problems looking after pets (with exception of exotic spiders and snakes!!!).
We have a two cats and would appreciate it if you could give them some food and water, otherwise very well behaved and outdoors all of the time normally.
We speak English, German, Russian (and limited Spanish)

Wonderful, green and quiet. We are located next to a wonderful recreational area with forests and walking trails but yet just a short tram ride from the city center. Our area is a quiet residential area, but there are some nice places to go out for food and drinks near by. among them some small authentic 'Heuriger' - typical Viennese wine pubs selling also their own wine.
Our own garden is surrounded by gardens on all sides so it is very relaxing and quiet.
Our home is the perfect hub which allows you to combine exploring Vienna with just relaxing in the garden - something which is especially great with kids - and enjoy a glass of wine on the roof terrace which has sun until late evening.
Our guests from Greece in the summer of 2013 said 2 weeks "was simply not enough".
There is so much to do inside and outside Vienna.
