Acerca de nuestra casa

"South Solitary" is situated behind the tree covered dunes and wetlands at a beautiful ocean beach at the edge of the Solitary Islands Marine Park. From the beach you can see the famous island and iconic lighthouse after which the property is named. The house was built as a display home, and has won numerous awards for sustainable building and design, as well as top custom home design for NSW, and renewable energy awards.
The Coffs region was rated as the "most liveable climate in Australia" by the CSIRO, with a temperate to sub-tropical maritime coastal environment modulated year round by the warm East Australian Current that brings water up to 29 degrees Celsius flowing down the coast.
A large rooftop Solar heating system provides all the necessary hot water in the home, as well as hot water used to warm the bedroom and bathroom floors in winter and take the chill off the lap pool.
The end result is a gorgeous custom home which is warm in winter and cool in summer, with plenty of light and open space that lends itself to a relaxed and comfortable holiday break at any time of year.
This three bedroom open plan house features top-of-the-line furnishings, easy living, indoor and outdoor dining and relaxation, and a solar heated lap pool for relaxation.
The ocean is only a short walk through beachside vegetation, and the sound of the surf can be heard through the house all day, as can the birdcalls from the coastal wetlands forest across the road.
An award-winning kitchen design with a beautiful blue gum breakfast bar cut from a solid tree trunk perfectly accommodates diners wishing to stay near the cooking action, or with the huge hardwood bi-fold doors opened, dining and relaxation can move outside to the covered section of the deck.
The kitchen can cook anything for anyone, having three ovens (conventional, steam/convection, and microwave/convection), and two cooktops (gas and electric induction). There is an oversized three door refrigerator with ice-maker and chilled water dispenser, with a large Miele dishwasher ready for the clean up. There is also a large walk-in pantry.
All bedrooms and bathrooms are on the eastern and southern side of the house, and are hydronically heated in the short winter, or cooled by breezeways in the summer. The master bedroom ensuite has a generous shower, large triangular two-person bath, and twin hand carved granite basins, and is reached via a spacious walk-through wardrobe area.
The master bedroom has a king-sized bed, and when the drapes are opened, is bathed in early morning sunlight and reflections from the adjacent lap pool. Bedrooms two and three both have queen-sized beds and share an interconnected bathroom.
There is a large laundry with fully automatic washer and condenser dryer, plus ironing facilities.
Entertainment comes via a 55-inch LCD television in the lounge section of the open space house. There is also a wall-mounted 32-inch LCD TV in the kitchen/family space. A Blu-Ray DVD player is available for your movies and music, and the house is fitted with an A-Bus system that allows you to dock your IPod or IPhone in either of two locations and play any of your own music collection through the study, kitchen/family space, or the outdoor dining area via overhead speakers. .
The 12-metre lap pool runs along the eastern side of the house, and is warmed by the hydronic solar system.
Three large hardwood bi-fold and sliding doors open the entire northeast quadrant of the house to the outdoor decks and the covered outdoor entertainment area, which has a table for four, and a large day bed seat.
If cooking is something you wish to avoid during your stay, the walkway to the beach has the delightful Beachstone Cafe and coffee shop halfway along. Excellent breakfasts, lunches and coffee can be enjoyed here in this covered outdoor patio cafe with adjacent park and children's playground.
Custom hardwood floors, bi-fold and sliding hardwood patio doors make the open plan kitchen and family area easy on the eye and a delightful entertainment space.
Summer cooling is enhanced by the high ceilings, and the open breezeway layout of the entire north half of the house.
Coffs Harbour can be reached by air with numerous daily airline services from Sydney and Brisbane. A daily express passenger train service operates between Sydney and Brisbane stopping at Coffs Harbour. Driving from Sydney (about 6.5 hours) and Brisbane (about 4.5 hours) along the Pacific Highway is painless on the recently upgraded highway if you wish to bring your own car, or there are numerous rental car agencies at the airport and in the town.
The house has its own website where additional details and photos are available for viewing at
The house has a strict "no pets" policy.
Maximum number of guests is 6 (any combination of adults and children remembering that there are only three beds).
Please note that the property is a conventional house and has no specific handicapped facilities or special handicapped access.
