Contemporary house in inner city Melbourne

Our house is an architecturally designed townhouse in an enviable position in the heart of Carlton. Walking distance to the cosmopolitan delights of Lygon Street with its cafes, bars, restaurants & gelatarias, a short walk to Melbourne’s hipster central, Brunswick, Smith & Gertrude Streets in Fitzroy, and a short 20 minute walk into Melbourne city with its heritage laneways, art galleries and Federation Square. We have beautiful parks close by, and interesting places to eat, shop and drink around us.

Within walking distance is a great arthouse cinema in Melbourne, the best bookshop in Melbourne, two public swimming pools, wonderful bakery, two supermarkets, and beautiful parkland - notably Carlton Gardens (with its heritage Exhibition Building & Melbourne Museum). A 10 minute walk to Melbourne University, and 20 minute walk to RMIT University. Trams and buses at our door (1 minute walk). Melbourne’s famed bike paths run 100 metres from our door.

Our street is tree lined and quiet. It’s hard to believe how quiet it can be when we are so close to everything! The Rose Street Artists Market is held every Saturday & Sunday 5 minutes walk from our house.

The house is over two levels; enter into a large light filled living space with attractive garden courtyard outlook. Upstairs are three bedrooms - one with a queen size bed, a study with a couch that is also a bed (but very comfortable and used for our guests), and one with a single bed. There is a separate toilet and bathroom (with laundry facilities). There is lots of natural light with a designer lightwell and skylights throughout. The house is brick and well insulated. We have an excellent stereo with lots of CDs to listen to. Fast WiFi, TV with Foxtel connection (cable) & Netflix. There is a well appointed kitchen (Bosch gas stove top, dishwasher and oven).

We are a professional couple with a nine year old daughter and have lived here for fifteen years. We love the area and the fact that we can leave the car at home and walk to pretty much anywhere we want to go – you can even walk to the MCG (Melbourne Cricket Ground) in about 45 minutes. The area has excellent schools (both primary & secondary). We can negotiate use of a car if there is a mutual swap.
